A Pellet of Rain

Image

A pellet of rain hit my head,
As I sat gloomily on my window sill.
Surprised, I turned towards the heaven,
And, returned to my senses with awe.

With silver silhouette in the sky,
Dull and grey clouds were scattered hither and thither.
At intervals it sieved a drop,
A pellet of rain, for the thirsty earth.

Frogs caught to their wonder,
Sucked in enough air into their lungs.
To mark the season most longed,
They croaked in rhythm at its welcome.

Soon, happy faces rushed out of their homes,
With tender limbs along with them.
Their long wait had ended now,
With a pellet of rain on my forehead.
